Energy & Climate Change Call for Papers: National Decarbonization Strategies
The Paris Agreement calls on the world to achieve an emissions pathway that limits global warming to well below 2C—and it sets up a process by which individual countries formulate national strategies to achieve high-ambition climate targets for both near-term and mid-century timelines. This process has prompted the delivery of national targets which have substantially increased in ambition between 2015 and today.
In light of this, Energy & Climate Change is launching an ongoing special issue to provide a platform for new and high-quality research focused on national and subnational strategies to reach near and long-term climate goals.
Submissions that focus on economy-wide analysis and modeling, sectoral and subnational approaches, and other innovative solutions that can contribute to meeting national and subnational climate goals are welcome. The goal for this special issue is to provide increased communication and transparency about the options and opportunities for emissions reductions that may be relevant not only in the domestic contexts of specific countries, but also to global audiences as the world seeks to better understand the genuine opportunities for enhancing ambition, action, and implementation in national and subnational contexts. The aim is to compile a collection of high-quality research that will provide scientific support for future national strategies for emission reductions.
Deadline: This is a rolling special issue, so there is no specific deadline. However, it is planned to publish regular overviews of accepted papers and the first will be on August 31, 2023.
