Nebojsa NAKICENOVIC

During the Fourteenth IAMC Annual Meeting held online last 29 November – 3 December 2021, the Integrated Assessment Modeling Consortium was proud to honour Nebojsa Nakicenovic (IIASA) with the IAMC Lifetime Achievement Award
Naki is a Member of the Group of Seven Chief Scientific Advisors to the European Commission, an Emeritus Research Scholar (IIASA) and Director of The World in 2050 project, linking climate and sustainable development goals. He is a former Deputy Director General of IIASA and tenured Professor of Energy Economics at Vienna University of Technology. He is one of the founding fathers of the Integrated Assessment Modeling Consortium. He began in working on energy and climate change in 1975. He pioneered the development of one of the most important integrated assessment models – the MESSAGE model – at IIASA. He has a major presence in the IPCC as a CLA in AR2, LA in AR3, AR4, and AR5. He was the CLA for the Special Report on Emissions Scenarios (SRES), a pioneering work that created the current model for scenario development with narrative and quantitative scenarios exploring multiple dimensions of potential emissions pathways. He continues to be a major presence in the IAM community and is a fantastic choice for this award.
